Daydreamer
Malon is a hard-working girl with a sunny disposition, and she has a love for animals, horses in particular. She is the only person (aside from Link) who manages to tame the wild mare, Epona, with her beautiful voice. Aside from singing, Malon is also a skilled horseback rider. She is actually the one who set the original record in the Lon Lon Ranch obstacle course. Malon may be an upbeat and social girl, but she takes her work seriously. Even as a child, she makes sure her father follows through with his responsibilities- so much that Talon is actually afraid of upsetting her. Even after Ingo takes over Lon Lon Ranch, Malon puts up with him in order to ensure that the keep her animals safe and continue with her responsibilites.
Seeing as Lon Lon Ranch is the only nearby exporter of milk, horses, and even eggs, Malon is always going to be busy as a rancher-merchant. Still, she has her fantasies. As you find out from a gossip stone, Malon secretly dreams that a knight in shining armor will one day sweep her off her feet. Obviously, this girl is a romantic at heart. Even after being confined to all the ranch work by Ingo, she is still forgiving. She ensures Link that Ingo wasn't a bad man, but a weak one tempted by evil.
Nintendo expanded upon Malon's personality by employing the talented mangaka duo, Akira Himekawa. At first, they were going to follow Ocarina of Time's story precisely, but Aonuma made changes to the story and characters in hopes of bringing them to life more than the technology of the Nintendo64 could.
